1947 

  • Building what the Republic of Austria needs: production of high-frequency hardening plant to overhaul crankshafts for automotive engines.

1955 

  • First air traffic control contract: installation of equipment for Austrian air traffic control at Vienna international airport.

1983

  • Hannes Bardach joins Frequentis as managing director and becomes its owner in 1986.

1993

  • First fully digitised voice communication system for air traffic control for Eurocontrol and the German armed forces.

1999

  • World market leader in voice communication systems for air traffic control.

2001

  • Start of strategic development of the Public Safety & Transport segment: police forces, fire brigades, ambulances, railways, maritime.

2005

  • Metropolitan Police, London: integrated communication platform with more than 500 workstations, including video surveillance (integration of more than 80,000 CCTV cameras).

2010

  • Largest maritime project in company history: country-wide delivery of a maritime communication system for the Canadian Coast Guard.

2015

  • G7 summit in Bavaria: innovative public safety solution deployed by the Bavarian police force as the primary communication tool for their security measures.

2016

  • Acquisition of Comsoft, Germany: competence centre for AMHS (aeronautical message handling services), AIM (aeronautical information management), surveillance technologies, and air traffic management systems.

2018

  • Norbert Haslacher – Executive Board member since 2015 – appointed CEO in April 2018 as successor to Hannes Bardach.

2019

  • Stock exchange listing in Austria and Germany on 14 May; issue price EUR 18.00.

2020

  • Implementation of a management system for uncrewed drones at 18 airport towers for the Norwegian air navigation service provider Avinor.
  • Acquisition of ATRiCS, Germany: Towerpad to optimise taxiing at airports.

2021

  • Peter Skerlan appointed CFO as successor to Sylvia Bardach.
  • Sustainability Award for Frequentis Orthogon’s Arrival Manager System: efficient management of aircraft arrivals combined with sustainability and environmental benefits.
  • Acquisition of ATC Canada: competence centre for voice and data communications in North America.
  • Acquisition of Orthogon, Germany: optimisation of air traffic with arrival and departure manager solutions.
  • Acquisition of C4i, Australia: products for military voice communications. 

2022

  • Acquisition of Regola, Italy: command and control solutions for emergency services.

2023

  • Monika Haselbacher appointed to the Executive Board as Chief Operating Officer (COO).
  • Digitalisation of the French railways: development of a customised Frequentis communication solution to improve performance.
  • Acquisition of FRAFOS, Germany: special firewall for enhanced cybersecurity requirements.
  • Acquisition of Frequentis Recording, Norway: recording of audio and video streams including data analysis. 

2024

  • Karl Wannenmacher succeeds Hermann Mattanovich in the position of CTO.
