Maritime Communication Systems

Voice communication is a classic but essential part of the Maritime communication. Well known techniques and procedures combined with state of the art technology (e.g. VoIP) deliver the most modern and resilient maritime communication system for safety and security related environments, like Maritime Rescue Coordination centres (MRCC), Vessel Traffic centres (VTS) and Vessel Traffic and Management Information Services (VTMIS).
Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) for Wasser und SchifffahrtsAmt (WSA) – Magdeburg/Duisburg, Germany Delivering of two MCS 3020 voice communication system with are connected to 70 radio channels with remote control and an voice recording system.
Port Communication Service (PCS) – Hafen Hamburg, Germany Frequentis delivered 2 MCS 3020 voice communication system with DIVOS integration and “free sitting” functionality. The network between both MSC 3020 and the 6 remote radio sites are based on VoIP.
Marine Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) - Icland Frequentis delivered a MCS 3020 connected to more than 90 radio channels. Furthermore Frequentis is responsible for the network design and buildup for the whole IT infrastructure.
Port Communication Service (PCS) - Port of Piraeus, Greece Frequentis delivered a MCS 3020 to the Port of Athens – Piraeus, designed with a Greek character display on the operator position.
Marine Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) - Torshavn, Faeroe Islands Frequentis supplies a GMDSS voice communication system an integrated coastal radio system for Torshavn Radio. The Frequentis MCS 3020 system and his AIS integration with 8 base stations cover all kinds of VHF, MF and DSC communication. The Faeroe Islands are a very important outpost along the Gulf Stream in the north Atlantic region. International fishery fleets and the important seaway to Scandinavia and Russia are covered by the MRCC and Radio Torshavn.
Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) - SASEMAR, Spain Frequentis supplied a VTS and GMDSS compliant DSC systems for the SASEMAR (La Sociedad de Salvamento y Seguridad Marítima) consisting of 6 MCS 3020 in A Coruna, Tarifa, Tenerife, Las Palmas, Bilbao and Gijon. The Frequentis MCS 3020 enables voice communications with more than 80 radio channels, telephone lines and remote control of all radios.
Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) - Taizhou, P. R. China Two MCS 3020 with voice recording DIVOS and a Chinese layout at the operator position, for the VTS centre Taizhou which is connected to Jiangyin, including remote control functions for the connected radios and DSC.
Port Communication Service (PCS) - Port of Ras Laffan, Qatar Frequentis delivered a MCS 3020 system with IP remote operator positions to the port of Ras Laffan. Ras Laffan is one of the most important production facilities and ports for natural gas.
Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) for Wasser und SchifffahrtsAmt (WSA) - Bremen, Germany The waterway between Bremen, Oldenburg and Brake are maintained and controlled by WSA Bremen. Frequentis delivered one MCS 3020 with DIVOS voice recording system and DSC. The four radio sites are over VoIP connected to the MCS 3020.
Marine Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) - Oostende, Belgium Frequentis delivered one MCS 3020 voice communication system for the (MRCC) in Belgium located in Oostende. A fully GMDSS compliant system has been delivered including the full integration of DSC, NAVTEX, VHF, MF and HF. MRCC Oostende is responsible for all maritime search and rescue tasks in the Belgium territorial waters and the dense traffic region of the outer east English Channel.
Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) - Portugal Roll out of a countrywide maritime Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) along the coastline of Portugal, consisting of 5 control centers equipped with MCS 3020 and voice recording DIVOS, hot standby functionality, connected to more than 100 radio channels, telephone interfaces, ship databases and DSC. The turnkey contract which has been supplied together through our Portuguese-German partner companies encloses control centers, digital communication networks, radar stations and also civil works.
Port Communication Service (PCS) - Ports of London, UK For The Port of London Authority (PoLA) Frequentis delivered a fully networked integrated radio and telephone communication infrastructure with 2 MCS 3020, located at Gravesend headquarters and Thames Barrier with control room facilities and with the respective VHF radio infrastructure.
US Coast Guard DSC-Analyzing and Test Tool - Up to now, Frequentis has delivered in 2003 some DSC test-systems to several customers in the United States.
Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) - Norwegian Coastal Radio, Norway Frequentis was awarded a contract for the supply of a countrywide coastal radio network in Norway by Telenor Nett AS. The main challenge for this project was to integrate fully GMDSS compliant DSC functionality including a ships database into the network consisting of 5 rescue coordination center equipped with 5 MCS 3020 voice and data communication system, connected to more then 400 radio channels. Telenor provides some different services as E-mail, Web service, Tracking, Weather service, Payment transactions (POS), Synchronisation of data (Auction data, maintenance systems, balancing the cash, etc..) and remote maintenance.
Coastal Radio (CR) – Lyngby, Denmark Frequentis was contracted by Tele Denmark for the re-equipping of the existing coastal radio station, with a new MCS 3020 including operator positions. Commercial and safety services are offered on more than 80 maritime radio frequencies on VHF, MF, and HF. A variety of satellite services are also provided.
