Each annual report provides more evidence of the continued dynamic expansion at Frequentis. We have developed from a small Austrian business with under 40 employees to a medium-sized group with a growing number of international subsidiaries and associated companies.
At the core of this success is our unique voice communication system … the innovation behind the company's global market leadership in voice communications for air traffic control. But we have also been successful in introducing applications of this system to new markets, notably air defence systems, police, rescue and fire services, maritime facilities and the railway sector.

Annual Report 2009
2009 was an economic challenging year; however, the Frequentis Group succeeded in sustaining its good and stable position on the world market. For sure, we also had to face shifts of projects or delays in the rollout of programmes with some of our customers caused by declines in their business, e.g. by the significant reductions in air traffic movements. This led to a reduced operating performance of EUR 131.6 million and a profit of EUR 3.1 million.
However, once again our diversification strategy and our activities in various business fields proofed to be successful. Despite the worldwide economic downturn, Frequentis was able to increase its order intake in 2009 to just about EUR 160 million. This record order intake is securing the basis for our continued sustainable growth.
Our workforce is now 850 people. We intentionally did not make any comprehensive reductions in staff, as we have always attached great importance to retaining key experts with specialised know-how in the company. Frequentis know-how that has been built up over the long term is a significant success factor along with our close and steady cooperation and continuity in customer service.
We expect 2010 to show growth again. Our confidence is based on our business: the business we are in is safety related communication and information systems – safety will be of utmost importance also for the near future and safety critical infrastructure will continue to play an important role.
