Project - Data-in-Voice DIV
The current analog Air Traffic Control (ATC) voice system does not indicate who is currently talking on the R/T channel. With an ATC short messaging service (Data in Voice, DiV) recently proposed by Frequentis, a short data packet - containing e.g. the Talker-ID - is sent with each PTT (Push To Talk) event.
The system neither blocks the analog voice channel nor impacts the voice quality. DiV implements high-integrity in-band modem and uses legacy analog radios, requiring only moderate changes of the communications architecture.
