The Telecom Standard QSIG for ATC
Ground to ground (G/G) voice communication is rapidly migrating. To provide a digital infrastructure for Air Traffic Services (ATS), Eurocontrol defined a special adaptation to QSIG designed specifically for the needs of air traffic control: ATS-QSIG.
ATS-QSIG provides an all-in-one solution for these demands. Digital speech coding and advanced speech compression algorithm guarantee highest speech quality and maximum bandwidth utilisation.
ATS-QSIG is a signalling protocol, which facilitates the building of a ground infrastructure for digital air traffic control networks and is accepted as the European standard by major aviation authorities worldwide.. QSIG/PSS1 is also being considered as the basis of a recommended signalling standard under the auspices of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO). ATS-QSIG is recognised as the implementation of this protocol created and approved by Eurocontrol.
