On January 25, 2006, one of the major air defence programmes of the British Royal Air Force,
UCMP, came to a successful conclusion with the official opening of the second large centre
in Scampton, in the presence of high-ranking officers of the Royal Air Force and the MOD’s
project office, top management of the Prime Contractor IBM UK, and the major
subcontractors. The Control and Reporting Centre (CRC) Scampton consists of 91 working
positions. It is replacing a temporary centre with 40 working positions. With UCMP, one of
the most modern and complex voice communication systems for Air Defence is now in full

contract to supply the Australian Defence Force with Command and Control Centres for
