RES-Q - Radio Emergency System

In the field of Air Traffic Control (ATC) reliability is extremely important. In case of a major system failure, radio communication and therefore access to local radios must be maintained. For maintaining communication between pilots and controllers a radio emergency system, which must operate independently from the main Voice Communication System (VCS) is essential.

Frequentis' fully digital Radio Emergency System (RES-Q) is the solution.
  • The radio emergency system takes over radio communication and ensures safe communication between pilots and controllers
  • This backup system consists of an interface controller unit and emergency operator positions
  • RES-Q is activated via the emergency operator position. In case of its activation, the interface controller unit takes over up to four predefined frequencies from the main VCS
  • The interface controller unit is able to handle up to eight emergency operator positions and provides access to the frequencies from all emergency operator positions in parallel
  • The emergency operator positions are interconnected via a 2 Mbit/s ring to the interface controller unit
  • Frequentis RES-Q is suitable for Frequentis VCS, for other voice communication systems and for stand-alone systems of very small applications, which require low cost solutions.
