Wearable Computing Supports Crisis Management
Frequentis explores potential use cases for emergency services
On February 25-26, 2015, Frequentis organised a conference on "Mobile visualisation in extreme situations using the example of Google Glass", which was attended by representatives of emergency services such as the Austrian and the Bavarian Red Cross, scientists of the Technical University of Graz as well as doctors of the Elisabethinen hospital in Linz. Aim was to share the latest research results in safety-critical areas such as health and crisis management.
During the conference, many lessons have been learned and some new areas of application have been developed. “A supra-regional, interdisciplinary cooperation in form of a research project may make sense,” says Christian Kloyber of the Austrian Red Cross. Ways to do this are now being evaluated.
