Technology Leadership

When creating solutions for customers in safety-critical markets, we place a strong focus on innovation and technology. Our strengths in both areas give us a clear competitive advantage. In recent years, the product portfolio has undergone successful expansion as we honour our mission statement: “Communication and Information Solutions for a Safer World”. This expansion will continue into the future with the addition of various innovative customer solutions.

Our priority is to exploit technology in a way that best supports the human decision-making process in critical situations.

Research and Development

At Frequentis a solid technological basis and a high capacity for innovation are the drivers for research and development. Our company is a recognised innovation leader in the markets that we target.

We keep our own systems and solutions at the state-of-the-art level with our technological expertise, while actively making new advancements. By participating in international research projects, we share in the development of an innovative future.

On average Frequentis invests about 12% of its operating performance annually in research and development, which testifies to the major importance of this area. The acquisition of the US competitor Global Weather Dynamics, Inc. (GWDI) in March 2010, enabled an expansion and reinforcement of the Frequentis product range in the business field of aeronautical information management systems. The establishment of two new Frequentis companies in California and the Czech Republic as a result of this acquisition have enhanced the Group’s position in the software development field.

A new concept has been mapped out for the Frequentis subsidiary in Bratislava, which specialises in software development and system engineering with a focus on Public Safety and Maritime; it will ensure a strong focus on substance, simplification of organisational processes, as well as improved integration with the business processes of Frequentis AG in Vienna.

The increase in Frequentis AG’s shareholdings in PDTS from 30% to 65% will further develop and maintain expert knowledge in the software development sector.

International Research Projects

Funding provides valuable international support for innovative R&D projects. By participating in EU-funded innovation projects, Frequentis is establishing itself as an important partner in international initiatives and the intensive information exchange with other organisations also helps to promote our image and expand our know-how.
