NextGen & SESAR

Frequentis is a member of SESAR Joint Undertaking and is as such an active participant in numerous research, regulatory, industry and standardisation communities and initiatives like EUROCAE.
This participation is a result of the company's intense commitment to the ATM community and to the current and future safety of the world's airspaces.
It also reflects the strong position held by Frequentis within this community, through our long-history of cooperation with ANSPs, controllers and other ATM organisations, our orientation to technological innovation, and the expertise and know-how collected in decades of successful ATM project work around the globe.
Frequentis is also working on research projects within the FAA's NextGen initiative. This initiative will transform US airspace, leading to reduced environmental impact, fewer delays, safer skies, and vastly more efficient ATM processes.
The SESAR programme recognises the likely doubling of flight movements in Europe by 2030, demanding new approaches to ATM that reflect environmental, efficiency, cost and safety concerns associated with this growth.
The SESAR Joint Undertaking (SJU) will reach its aims by coordinating and concentrating all relevant research and development efforts in the EU and ATM community. Founded by the EU and EUROCONTROL, the SESAR Joint Undertaking also benefits from the support of sixteen public and private enterprises.
Frequentis is one of only five ATM ground infrastructure companies included, and plays an active or leading role in the following areas:
- Communications
- The integrated tower
- The integrated Controller Working Position (iCWP) and
- System Wide Information Management (SWIM)
Frequentis will also influence the design of the overall ATM architecture, and conduct other related work in the fields of safety and security. In total, Frequentis is active in 30 projects, handling a project volume of about € 26 million.
